To start, why is folic acid or folate so important?

You can find Folic acid in green leafy vegetables like spinach and broccoli, lentils, peas, beets, brussel sprouts, poultry, liver, wheat germ, cereals, beans, breads, nutritional yeast, tuna, cantaloupes, strawberry, and citrus fruits like orange. It is also added to processed food products like cereals.
